How to Create Automations with the Home Application?

Apple’s Home app allows you full control over your HomeKit. It even allows you to set up automation. So now you can set it to automatically turn off the light when you walk out of the door, etc. Automating the scenes and accessories is not difficult. Read on and check out the process in detail.
Creating an Automation Based on an Accessory’s Action on your iPad, iPhone or iPod Touch
  • First of all, go to the Home application & select the Automation option.
  • Then you should tap on Create new Automation or +Add icon.
  • When an accessory to begin automation enable or disable, you should select “An Accessory is Controlled” or tap on “A Sensor Detects Something.”
  • You have to choose the accessory, which begins the automation & tap on Next.
  • You should select the action which activates the automation when it’s enabling or launch tap on Next.
  • Thereafter choose accessories & scenes which react to the action, then select Next.
  • Long press on it to set an accessory.
  • Now, tap on Done.
Creating an Automation Based on an Accessory’s Action on your MacBook
  • Get started by going to the Home application & select the add icon in the top right-hand side of the screen.
  • Then you should click on “Add Automation.”
  • When an accessory enables or disable, select “An Accessory is Controlled” or select “A Sensor Detects Something.”
  • You should choose the accessory which begins the automation, and then click on Next.
  • Thereafter go to the action which activates the automation. When it’s enabling or launch, then click on Next.
  • Navigate to accessories & scenes which react to the action, then click on Next.
  • You have to double click on it to set an accessory.
  • Now, click on Done.
Creating an Automation Based on Who’s Home on your iPad, iPhone or iPod Touch
  • To begin with, go to the Automation tab, & then tap on +add icon.
  • Then you should select if you would like to automation to be present when persons come or leave home. To choose a particular person to begin the automation, then tap on ( i ) icon.
  • Also, you can select time & location for the automation.
  • You should choose scenes & accessories to automate, then tap on Next.
  • Later, long press on it to set an accessory.
  • Now, tap on Done.
Creating an Automation Based on Who’s Home on your MacBook
  • First, you have to click on the “+add” icon on the top right-hand side of the screen.
  • You have to click on “Add Automation.”
  • Then you should select if you would like the automation to be present when persons come or leave home. To choose a particular person to begin the automation, click on ( i ) icon.
  • Also, you can select time & location for the automation.
  • You have to choose scenes & accessories to automate, & then click on Next.
  • Twice click on it to set an accessory.
  • Now, click on Done.
Create an Automation that Runs at a Particular Time on your iPad, iPhone or iPod Touch
  • First & foremost, go to the Automation option & tap on the “+add” icon.
  • Then you should tap on “A Time of Day Occurs” then select time & day.
  • Tap on persons to have the automation to be present at a specific time when anybody is home.
  • You should choose scenes & accessories to automate, tap on Next.
  • To set an accessory, long press on it.
  • Now, tap on Done.
Create an Automation that Runs at a Particular Time on your MacBook
  • Get started by going to the “+add” icon on the top right-hand side of the screen.
  • Click on “Add Automation.”
  • Tap on persons to have the automation to be present at a specific time when anybody is home.
  • Choose scenes & accessories to automate, click on Next.
  • To set an accessory, twice click on it.
  • Now, click on Done.
Disable or Remove Automation 
If you want to disable or remove automation, then you need to follow the instructions given below.
  • To get started, launch the Home application on the iOS device or MacBook & navigate to the Automation option.
  • Then you should select or click on the automation.
  • Now, switch the toggle of “Enable This Automation” enable or disable.
  • After that, go to the automation, then move to the end & select or click on Delete Automation. Also, you can swipe leftward over the automation & tap on Delete for removing the automation.
